Swiss Netball needs you!

There are numerous opportunities to get involved in all key areas of work, short-term or long-term, giving just a few hours of your time, or more!

For Swiss Netball to grow and develop at all levels, we need more volunteers from across Switzerland, for short or long-term initiatives, to help in a wide range of areas of work: administration, membership support and development, communications and marketing, coordination of training opportunities, sponsorship, governance and legal matters, financial governance, administration, operational support for events and the National Squad, officiating and coaching coordination. If you can imagine a role for yourself please volunteer and give your time!

Marketing

Communications & Marketing Lead

The Marketing and Communications lead will have the responsibility for all communications, website and public relations messaging that articulates Swiss Netball’s mission and values, promoting awareness of netball in Switzerland. The Marketing and Communications lead will ensure that Swiss Netball is viewed as the primary source, disseminator, and conduit of netball related information within Switzerland.

Membership
Membership Liaison

The responsibility of Membership Liaison is to act as a bridge between Swiss Netball members and Swiss Netball. The role advocates for the development of a stronger and more active netball community in Switzerland by actively engaging with current members to ascertain their interests, aspirations and requirements of Swiss Netball. As the Chair of the Members Council, the position holder will ensure that the reporting to members by the Committee is transparent and responsible whilst having a focus on building strong relationships.

Officiating Lead In-Country Assistant

The Officiating Lead In-Country Assistant is responsible to support and assist the Officiating Lead with all in-country tasks, arrangements, events, tournaments and courses.

National Squads
Swiss Netball National Squad - Assistant Coach

The Assistant Coach works with the Lead Coach, to support the planning and effective delivery of an annual programme for the applicable National Squad, in line with Swiss Netball’s strategy, including athlete selection, specific talent development and performance plans for athletes, coaches and scouts.

National Squads
Swiss Netball National Squad Support

The National Squads Support is responsible for assisting at National Squads training sessions and in-country competition as requested by the National Squads Head Coach and/or National Squads Committee Liaison and/or Team Manager(s). The role is to support the Assistant Coaches and Team Manager(s) in delivering the programme.

Officiating
Umpire Assessor – C Award 

Umpire Assessors conduct practical assessments determining whether learner umpires meet the criteria and quality standards set to be awarded an umpire qualification. Umpire Assessors must have a strong depth of knowledge of the rules. They must be able to give positive constructive feedback and evaluate an umpire’s performance against competencies and criteria set out by Netball Europe.

Pre-Requisites:

  • Individual Member of Swiss Netball

Qualifications:

  • Ideally a minimum of 2 year’s umpiring experience as a Netball Europe B Award umpire or above

 Experience:

  • Actively involved as an umpire or umpire mentor
  • Good knowledge of the rules of the game

Personal Qualities:

  • Enthusiasm about and passion to contribute positively to umpire development 
  • Ability to evaluate performance related to competencies and criteria
  • Provide and communicate constructive feedback
  • Ability to collate information and report on assessment paperwork
Officiating
Umpire Tutor – C Award 

Umpire Tutors need to have a pleasant and enthusiastic manner to build confidence in the learner umpires and create a successful learning environment. Swiss Netball Umpire Tutors will deliver our Introduction to Umpiring Award and Netball Europe C Award Theory Umpire Courses, the first steps in the pathway to becoming an umpire. It is essential therefore that you feel confident delivering to groups of people and have the confidence to answer questions about the game

Pre-Requisites:

  • Individual Member of Swiss Netball

Qualifications:

  • Netball Europe B Umpiring Award or above
  • Actively Umpiring

Experience:

  • Able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding for the rules of netball and how and when to apply them
  • Excellent leadership skills covering key aspects such as communication, decision making, leading by example

Personal Qualities:

  • Approachable
  • Good clear communication skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Pro-active and able to adapt
